Filling the Font

Christening Day for William and Edward at St Mary's Church, Melton Mowbray. I hadn't realised that the church sits in such a picturesque part of Melton before. A day out there with a camera should be forthcoming.

50 guests at the ceremony and at the bunfight at the Harborough Hotel across the road afterwards. I had a huge platter of gluten free food to myself with chips, spring rolls and chicken something or other. The contents of the sandwiches were pretty good too.

Very pleased to meet Ian who came to sit with us at the reception. He intends to revive the monthly meetings at the pub which I think Len misses. It will be good for him.

Rosie came with her new fella Ben, who seems very pleasant.

The priest began by haranguing us as to whether he was qualified to carry out the service as he's recently retired and had to get permission from the bishop. But he encouraged William to step up to the font to help pour the water in, as you can see.

He wore sandals, Galilee style.

William and Edward wore matching pale blue outfits. I think a friend of Kat's must have made them.
