The Future?

Our local airfield (Old Buckenham) held its annual Airshow over the weekend.  They had the usual displays of vintage aircraft (Spitfires, Hurricanes, B17, etc and one fairly modern jet in the Typhoon, which was awesome. However the most interesting contribution was this aircraft pictured.  It is the Pipistrel Velis Electro operated by Neboair and was billed by the commentator as the first flying display by an electrically powered  aircraft anywhere in the world!
It was an elegant display but very quiet; a short buzz as the thing took off but other than that, as it flew by you could hold a normal conversation without having to raise your voice! The RAF are apparently  looking at it as a future basic flying training aircraft. For training and light aircraft operators, it could be the way forward.

Backblipped from Sunday on 1 Aug 22.
