Horseyholiday - Homeward

So, horseiness done (barring temptations to turn left back to Hickstead rather than right and up the A23) and homeward.  

Broke the journey fairly early on at an NT property, Petworth, that caught our eye on the map.  Apparently it did that in 2017 too but neither of us remembered until we got there.  That's the beauty of senility - you can enjoy all these new places...

While wandering the house we both had our own 'big room' decorating project in mind.  I'm not sure even our rooms would cope with this level of art, but it has nudged us to make sure there's some way of lighting the locations where we plan to hang large pictures on the proposed darker wallpaper.

The rest of the journey was a bit of a mare - some incident on the M5 near Cheltenham meant that it was not going to be the route home so we picked our way cross country across Gloucestershire.  Slow, but greatly preferable to crawling along the M5 for hours.
