Paris

We know from her war diary that Lorna Lloyd was very find of Paris, so we are delighted that Tweedy has provided an iconic shot to represent France's capital city.

Lorna records the fall of Paris in her diary on June 14th 1940. It is also here that she refers to César Franck's symphony in D minor, an extract of which we use for the theme tune for our podcast series. Lorna also deplores the earlier bombing of the city in the lead up to the fall on June 3rd 1940, and describes it as 'almost in the jaws of barbarism' eight days later on 11th. All these diary entries feature in Episode 6 of the Diary of the war podcast series.

This is the 11th photograph in our series to map the locations mentioned in Lorna's war diary, all of which have been supplied by blippers who have dipped into this journal. There are many more locations to map - see the list here, or our interactive map here

If you can supply a shot (or more than one) for this project, we would love to hear from you. Please email Hazel at h.hall@napier.ac.uk.
