Underneath the arches

This morning I went bowling in the park, a lovely day for it and most enjoyable.

While we were there, workmen removed the barriers from the ends of the passageway between the park and Willow Street and revealed arches over the alley, complete with stained glass panels.

The alleyway is between two pubs at the street end and used to be a horrible area that no one would want to linger in. In recent times it’s been painted and generally tidied up. Planters have been added with flowers, bushes and a wall trellis with climbing plants. The arches are a lovely addition and people were stopping to look at it as they walked through. It’s a great addition to the town.
