As a former librarian, let alone family historian, Mrs Oons has many books. Libraries that can't display everything they have, keep them behind the scenes in 'stacks'. Today we have been creating stacks in the attic. Now, it must be obvious that, when you do that, you spend as much time looking at the books as you do stacking.

The County Directory of Scotland published the names and addresses of everyone in the country who might be considered a gentleman/gentlewoman. We had a lot of fun looking up addresses we know to see who was there in 1912.

As always the adverts are fascinating, as snapshots of life in those days. But what the hell was an Electric Sulphur Egg?

Here's more about Mr Pottage, who clearly impressed the Baron von Bush among others, but on electric sulphur eggs we are none the wiser.

Baron von Bush is pretty interesting too. See where casually flipping pages in a book can take you?
