Free At Last!

Tonight we finally managed to leave the port of Leith (Edinburgh) -- in order to dock here three days ago, we had to pass through a lock ... we were supposed to leave yesterday evening, headed for Newcastle, but the wind was too high, the lock was too narrow, and it was deemed unsafe to attempt a transit at that time, so we had to spend another day here and wait for the high tide at 8:30 this evening.

Here you can see that we made it successfully through -- and you can see how little leeway there was!

Sadly we had to skip calling at Newcastle, which made us very sad, as we had made arrangements to meet up with fellow blipper and old friend dollydoug while we were there -- which for obvious reasons didn't happen.

Tomorrow is a day at sea as we try to make up time on our way to Belgium ... we plan to spend part of tomorrow packing, as we only have three more days aboard before we disembark in Amsterdam.
