Juxtaposition: There and Gone

Nearly every neighbor on the street was drawn outside at the sound of loud engines and high-pitched saws.  Eight trucks blocked the road from both directions.  Much to our communal surprise, several trees on the north side of the road were cut down.  We suspect this is just a prelude to another "improvement" that none of us want.  That's all I'll say for now.  Grrrrr.....
