Sgwarnog: In the Field

Encounters

It is heather season, both in its more natural heathland patchwork state like in this view, and in the grouse shooting monoculture of the higher moors on the horizon.

I was working today, so just a short lunchtime walk along Moorside and through the Low Springs pastures. A few Wall  and a Common Blue were today’s butterfly highlights. A closish encounter with a hare, and a Sparrowhawk with what I took to be one fledged and one unfledged youngster were also nice encounters.
