Lowther church- St Michaels

On our way back from orienteering in Penrith we stopped here to get some information. I should have done more research before we came because apparently there are Saxon graves in the porch. We wandered round looking for graves but none seemed to fit the clue we were trying to solve.    If I ever come back I'll look for the Saxon grave. The Lowther family made their money from exploiting coal miners - I learned that in Paxmans fascinating book on the subject Black Gold,. - They are nearly as bad as slave traders. They made so much money they built a heap of a castle which I've blipped before
