Deep freeze

I was straight into a workshop with colleagues at a nearby hotel on some of our organisational development needs for the next five years. The Germany office is kindly agreeing to underwrite these costs as long as we can come up with some sensible ideas.

The least sensible idea of the day, as ever in these hotel conference rooms, was from whoever set the air conditioning to such a low level. It’s Dar es Salaam’s least hot season and air conditioning isn’t required. It bothers me from an environmental perspective with the wasted energy and because getting cold makes me grumpy (…grumpier). Talking to the staff about turning it off was far more convoluted than it should have been.

Here is Davis warming up like a lizard during the coffee break. He wasn’t even doing this pose for comedic effect; it was necessary for his thermoregulation.

Note to self: bring jacket tomorrow.
