Red Christmas

This Heliconia grows well in my neighbour's garden. We have a nice view of it from our balcony. I think it's Heliconia angusta which originated, according to Wikipedia, in SE Brazil. One variety is commonly called Red Christmas because, when grown in the Northern Hemisphere, it flowers in winter. Here, on the east coast of Australia, it started flowering a month or so ago and looks set to continue for a good while yet.
