Saffron

For most of the afternoon until the ferry ride back to Dar es Salaam, I perched in a café next to the massive walls of the old Stone Town fort. Something possessed me to go for a saffron and cardamom beverage. Maybe it was the link between Zanzibar and the ancient spice routes. The chocolate covered date served on the side was a small oval shaped slice of heaven.

I really like Stone Town based on this brief visit. Hustlers can be combatted with some words of Swahili, and the hordes can be avoided by some alleyway zigzagging. I shall certainly return. Very good to have found somewhere to chill whenever there is downtime from work.
