Show Day

Celia and Iain, of greenhouse fame amongst other things, set up and run a display at the Shrewsbury Flower Show for the Shropshire group of the Alpine Garden Society.  It was a treat to go along and help man the stand.   Lots of interest from members of the public, a good number of people added to the invite list for group meetings and many packets of seed sold.  The stand was awarded a Large Gold Medal, which also commands a cash prize that could fund the years speakers at our meetings.   An excellent result all round.

Taking part also allowed me to mooch around the rest of the show for a  while.  Some fantastic exhibits, some of which feature above.  Lilies filling the marquee with scent, grotesque but beautiful Sarracenias, Pitcher Plants that catch insects, A fabulous flush of Fuchsias, super Sweet Peas, b8888y enormous begonia flowers, the size of tea plates and an astonishing variety of cacti and succulents were among the things that caught my eye.

A day that started at 530am, I was in Shrewsbury by 830 and returned after a meal at the windmill, getting home at 1145pm.   A walk down the seafront for Meg .... and now definitely time for bed.   A very good day :-)
