Farley Mount monument

Kate and I went for a 7 mile walk today, starting from Farley Mount, walking along the Clarendon Way and around the hamlet of Ashley. This dramatic folly is near the beginning of our route and is a monument to a horse named 'Beware Chalk Pit' who survived a fall into a 25 ft deep chalk pit and then a year later in 1734 went on to victory in the Hunters Plate race. There are some great views from this point but the photos didn't come out too well with the grey cloud and hazy conditions this morning.
