Egg

Having decided it was too hot to run yesterday in shorts and a crop top, sitting on half a tonne of horse in (long) trousers, (short) boots and wearing a hat and gloves this morning seemed eminently sensible. Luckily the school is mostly shady in the mornings and we were doing short bursts (20m circles, in counter canter) followed by a debrief where horse and rider could cool down a bit. I was still a bit drippy when I'd done and welcomed the air con in the car, fuel guzzling and bad for the atmosphere though it is.

Himself had to go to his mum's again this week, she'd got herself into a muddle with her meds and her morning carer was getting a bit worried about her.  He took her over a (very summery) shepherd's pie that I had in the freezer so she had a home cooked meal as a treat.

Otherwise I've been tidying up the dead stuff in the front garden and digging over the top soil to loosen it up so if, and it seems a big if, it does rain later in the week there's a small chance of it going some good.

The pigeon egg was very carefully left on the step by one of the cats. It seems late in the year for baby birds but it's definitely a fresh one, the goo was still liquid inside.

I hope you all had good weekends and the week ahead pans out as you want it to.
