George Romney 1734 - 1802

Celebrated local portrait artist .  There are a few plaques about him around Kendal. Possibly most famous for his many portraits of Lady Emma Hamilton; Nelson's mistress, apparently he painted at least 60 of her. 
Wikipedia tells me he is  related to the American Romney politicians :_-
George Romney is a kinsman of American businessmen and politicians George W. Romney (1907–1995) and Mitt Romney (born 1947); their ancestor Miles Romney was George Romney's first cousin once removed.
