Admission

J was admitted to hospital, ready for the surgery scheduled for Monday morning. I was to stay with her, because her communication needs make familiar support essential if she is to understand what is happening and communicate with staff. P drove us to London; during the journey, I was struck several times by the interesting and unusual cloud formations. We arrived earlier than expected, as traffic was relatively light, so the three of us spent an hour together in the adjacent park before P helped us carry our bags to the ward where we were to stay for the first night.
