Wednesday

Wednesday evenings in summer are for trail running - except when it's too hot, especially for running with a dog. This evening was noticeably cooler & the route was fairly local to us. There was a combination of field edge footpaths (meaning views of stubble at the moment as it's too dry to cultivate) & long stretches of lovely green lanes. The one in the photo is along what used to be the Middy line - the Mid Suffolk Light Railway. It's probably more successful & well-known now as a footpath, with a small local railway museum, than the railway ever was. Other lanes were much more ancient, originating as Hundred lanes between adjacent administrative areas in Anglo-Saxon times (a Suffolk peculiarity).
