Thruscross Reservoir

Thruscross Reservoir is the reservoir at the head of the Washburn Valley, perhaps best known because the village of West End becomes visible again when the water level falls. Jon and I decided to walk around the reservoir today to see how low the water levels is at present, and many others had the same idea.
The worry is not only about how the water levels are currently but the implications of another autumn and winter of below average rainfall. Heavy downpours are not as effective as long periods of steady rain for capturing water and getting deep into the soil. As always, we don't seem to be prepared for this aspect of climate change.
