Birmingham Safari :-)

An interesting start to the day…I got on a train at the NEC - only to find that it was not going to go anywhere because of a points failure at New Street. Driver didn’t even know if we would get there. Much delayed, we actually set off - this totally confused the automatic station announcement system which announced at every station that we were arriving at Birmingham International (NEC)…the driver kept correcting it!!

I wandered around the city centre canals and walked along a couple of the main routes out of the city - to Edgbaston and Winson Green.

I had to go and see this mechanical bull made famous by the recent Games in the city. I also spotted a giant Lego Giraffe (extra 1) and a row of EMU trains in a depot (extra 2).

Bull, giraffe and emus…quite a safari ….

We are staying in Ashby de la Zouch tonight, and we have just walked into town for a Chinese meal. On the way back up to the guest house, my FitBit clocked 30,000 steps….so 13.8 miles walked today….
