A stressful day yesterday, plus a trip to the pub and a big dinner, combined with someone's chickens deciding this morning was national Squawk Incessantly As Soon As It Gets Light day, led to a slow but worthwhile Parkrun (I'd only have moped around at home). It was surprising warm as well. So warm that ice cream was needed before the walk home.

Up to the allotment to give everything a good soaking after that, before our hosepipe ban comes in next week. One of the site's massive oak trees has sadly got too stressed by the heat and drought and is having to be cut down; branches keep falling off it and it's dangerous. Who knows how old it is, over 50 years for sure.

I did get a good harvest of some volunteer potatoes that I'd done nothing with, alongside some Cavelo Nero and some quite tough french beans so that's tea today and tomorrow sorted.

Back to an afternoon of pottering around. I'm very tired and still upset by yesterday so need to keep busy. 

The chillies are hotting up.
