Bute- iful

I have distant memories of a wet day at Rothesay and on that basis never been back for 40 odd years.
How wrong was I
Went across as foot passengers from Wemyss Bay with our bikes. Great buzz as the Bute Highland Games we’re on so lots of lad and lassies in kilts with drums.
Beautiful sunshine off we cycled west towards Mount Stuart. What a building! We didn’t have time to go inside but stunning building with 300 acre as of gardens. Definitely return if only for the scrumptious soup.
Onward, soon we were heading up the east coast with the sleeping warrior of Arran looking magnificent to our left. One wrong turn up and long long hill and my knees were complaining as if they were only a vice any time there was the slightest incline, a stupid reminder that all ain’t well with these legs of mine. Cake on Scalpsie beach helped revive us and a wee wave to this big bull as we went past.
Another hill but yet more views and then we were nearly home.
46km bagged

Lucky to get the ferry as 20 cyclists were left ashore as were some very merry Highland Games fans. The last boat looked like it would be a riot.

Back to Kilmalcolm for tea and after much celebratory chat planning a revisit, we were all tucked up by 10.30.

Perfect day
