Birding highlight

Today we had a very short walk mid morning and took a good look around at the hills and hoped to see a few birds.

I used to bring Dad for this walk and even when he was a very old man and in fact was often even unsure of who I was, his spirit was lifted just by the distant views. Today it had a similar effect for me.

We saw some large flocks of Goldfinches but nothing special until we turned around for home. On a fence but into the sun was a single bird and we said Wheatear!

Unsure we hung around to get another view but no luck until this distant sighting … a Whinchat. They are close relatives so maybe that was the first bird or it could have been both were in those fields.

A letter from the hospital arrived summarising last week’s biopsy but no histology results to date. I try not to think about it but am aware my normal thought processes are fractured.

Extra photo.
We went to a local bakers and enjoy this sign on the wall. Don’t take it too seriously it’s just a bit of fun :-)
