DRINKS ARE ON THE HOUSE

Ever wonder what a Corner Worker does at a race track when he's being bothered by unruly, ill-tempered wasps...in this case known locally as Yellow Jackets? (Vespula vulgaris)

Well, this enterprising fella brings along a small plastic dish, weighs it down with a rock and adds a liberal layer of Mt. Dew soda. I suspect that any sugary drink would work but "The Dew" is a nice yellow color and that seems to attract them.

You can see that these bad girls really like the sugary stuff and drink their fill. Within minutes there are dozens of the striped insects all at one end of the table filling up while the worker is at the other end of the table wasp-free.

The wasps are pre-occupied with the Mt. Dew and don't bother anyone as long as you don't bother them.

I wasn't around to see him take down the Mt. Dew lake....can't imagine having to do that with 100 Yellowjackets belly up to the bar.
