Seeing Beyond Looking

The Unknown Destination

We think we know where we’re going, we have plans, hopes and dreams and expectations.
We learn suppleness when our plans go awry. We learn acceptance when our hopes and dreams are replaced by reality. As for expectations, let’s drop them too … better to live the moment as it’s presented to us, instead of wanting it to be something different and arguing with the reality of how things really are.
Life is a constant journey of unknown destinations. We never know how each day will actually turn out, let alone how tomorrow or the day after will be!

When I go down to the water’s edge, I’m very often reminded of life’s lessons. I contemplate the suppleness of the water, how it can be smooth or choppy, how the colour of the water changes according to the mood of the sky. There are sometimes sparkles and tiny waves, somehow creating equilibrium.

The horizon disappears into a soft mistiness, like the unknown and mysterious future that we cannot grasp. This moment is the only one that I can really be sure about.  So let’s grab that nearest sparkle and hold it to our heart and feel the joy of just being alive!

Extra:
A beautiful steamer, called 'Vevey' (the name of the town that I visited yesterday). Leaving the port of Ouchy and creating beautiful wavelets on the surface of the water.
