Hospital day 6

Another day in CCU: more antibiotics, more respiratory physio, a little less oxygen. This is the entrance lobby of one of the older buildings, snapped when I briefly popped downstairs for the treat of a take-out americano from Costas.

After lunch, P visited. We live about two and a half hours drive away, so it was not possible for me to pop home or for him to come very frequently, but throughout our stay he came every three days with stories and cuddles to make J smile, and brought me carefully created and organised supplies of non-perishable home baking, food that would keep for at least a couple of days without a fridge. Without this, I would have been living on overpriced sandwiches and salad pots from Costa or M&S, the only sources of food I could access in the hospital, so it was both helpful and very comforting to eat his delicious home made madeleines and savoury scones, cherry tomatoes from the greenhouse, slices of nut bake and tubs of cooked courgette and tomato...
