Wound up in Wexford

Sunshine after the rain

After a much better night's sleep I was feeling much refreshed.

In the morning we drove in to Hinckley, where we got good service at the Barclays Bank branch that is due to close in November.  We transferred the very large sum of money from my account to our currency exchange company, and from there to W's account in Ireland.

Then a cup of coffee in a little cafe, and a bit of supermarket shopping.  We found it was raining hard when we emerged, had to wait a little while for it to ease, but still got quite damp getting back to the car, and then again when we got back to our lodgings - the second time since we got here that we've been caught in a rain shower.

The afternoon was spent on admin, then we walked down to the village in lovely evening sunshine to try for a meal out.  First stop The Bull - large sign on the wall boasts (among other things) Home Cooked Food.  "No, we don't serve food, maybe the Bluebell"

The Bluebell has a large restaurant but only serves food on Sunday lunchtime.  And the chap behind the bar wasn't able to suggest anywhere in walking distance.  Maybe both were casualties of Lockdown?

So we walked back to our lodgings and cooked the food we had bought for tomorrow evening, and then did the research we should have done earlier.  There is a pub doing food within walking distance, just outside the village - we'll try there tomorrow - and there's also an Indian restaurant for another day.
