UBC student!

A very good day! Krista drove Renata and me to UBC to try out her route for commuting. Hopefully she'll be able to avoid the heaviest traffic times with her schedule. We found the buildings where her classes will be, all within a couple of minutes walk of each other and right by the parkade where her permit is valid. So convenient! We also found the building where her orientation will be next week, so she's set to go and feels very confident about finding her way around when classes start on Sept. 6. We had a quick lunch in one of the little cafes scattered around the campus. I really enjoyed walking familiar routes and seeing the changes.
Quite the experience for me to observe Krista and Renata using Google map on their phones to find different places! Not like when we went to uni, relying on paper maps.  :-)
Extras: UBC student and her proud mum in one of the buildings; Krista and Bruce under the yellow umbrella that shaded us while we ate lunch.
We took a different route on the way home and got back in time to watch most of Kalyn's game at the tournament in Bellingham. It was streamed on YouTube. They lost in 4 sets to Sonoma State. Good to have pre-season games to see what the team needs to work on before the season starts.
Krista and Dan joined us for pizza for supper. Great to have some time with Dan too. We're so glad that we came over, even for a very short visit.
I'm typing this on Friday morning. We're heading home later this morning.  Renata and James are going to Bellingham to watch Kalyn's game later today, and we'll be home in time to stream it.
