It's Flower Friday!

After yesterday's rain the weather was definitely cooler and more comfortable.  Very late in the afternoon I popped into the garden and snapped these Japanese anemones, which this year have flowered much earlier than usual and are even already looking a little tattered around the edges.  No matter, they are still to my eye striking and very pretty.

In other news: this morning Violet and her mummy popped round, so that we could spend some time together.  Violet unfortunately had been very poorly this morning, so she stayed at home with grandpa whilst we quickly popped out to our nearest Ikea.  For reasons that are not yet clear, this Tottenham branch of Ikea is being closed next Tuesday, so for us it was our last chance to nip round and pick up supplies of our favourite items.  After Tuesday, our nearest store will once again be Lakeside and I doubt that we'll go there often.  Next year Ikea plans to move into Topshop's former flagship store in Oxford Street (London) but as for some years I have avoided shopping in the West End like the plague it is unlikely that I'll even go there, let alone lug accessories home on the tube!
