Central Station, Brisbane

I went by train into central Brisbane today to buy birthday gifts for my grandaughter who will be 11 on Friday. I did have time for a coffee and an orange & poppy seed muffin before getting the train back.

Brisbane is an interesting mixture of modern high-rise, often glass-fronted architecture interspersed with some carefully preserved buildings from colonial days. I took this pic on the way back to Central Station (with the clock) via Anzac Square with its perfect lawns and trees. The station was built in 1899, replacing a wooden structure - which by Aussie standards makes it pretty old.
