Above And Beyond...

Pleiades

I woke up about 3am and looking up in bed through the skylight the stars were twinkling and the Pleiades were especially lovely.

I went out on the rear deck and took at photograph. The Pleiades are a star cluster of about 800 stars, seven especially visible to the naked eye (also known as Seven Sisters). It was formed about 100 million years ago and about 1/50th the age of our sun. The light from them takes about 425 years to get to us on Earth!

Getting up gave me a chance to turn the gammon in our slow cooker as Mrs BB brother and family are visiting for a few hours in the afternoon.

They arrived midday and it was good to spend a few hours with them around the house and a walk around Ross on Wye where it was very busy with people enjoying the bank holiday sunshine. Having got my blip it was ideal to take some film photo's.
