On the Turn

An extraordinarily quiet day. Everyone must be getting ready for the return to school, except for the Shepshed Lions who were readying Glenmore Park for the annual carnival. It was great last year. Definitely going again.

I was reading the last of C J Sansom's Shardlake books only to find  my vision was getting blurred from staring at the Kindle. I prompted everyone to get up and go to the Outwoods.

Although most of the trees are still green, there is heavy leaf litter of leaves that have died and fluttered down, making a carpet of gold. Even the ferns are turning to bracken.

This is the third year in a row that the wood has seemed desiccated.
