A different scene

Quite a difference from yesterday. Quite apart from the question of weather, there was also the small matter of the tide, which was completely out, leaving a pretty muddy Dornoch Firth.

We had a reasonably lengthy wander along the shoreline today, heading in a roughly north easterly direction. As we didn’t want to take the van on any small roads, or indeed drive it at all once we got it up here, we were confined to walks in and from Tain over the weekend.

Later on we went for lunch at Platform 1864 and later on still we set off home. I thought we’d judged it well. From Tain to Blair Atholl the traffic was incredibly low and we bowled along at a steady 60, and more on the dual carriageways. At Blair Atholl we hit an enormous amount of traffic, much of it coming out of the Blair Castle Horse Trials. We basically went stop start from there until Bankfoot, just the north side of Perth. It delayed us by at least an hour.

Anyway, we are safely back in Edinburgh now and I don’t feel too frazzled. We still have the van tomorrow morning, so we have a collection to do.
