Bees are back

This gum tree is just outside our back gate. The most interesting thing about it at the moment is what you can’t see. The native bees are back, just a few flying around the cavity where they live. Do native bees hibernate? According to Google native honey bees don’t actually hibernate in winter. Instead, they form a winter cluster by huddling together to conserve heat. We can sympathise with that.
