The Yard is Hopping!

I always know when the grasshoppers arrive in late August because the crows show up to patrol the field.  This little guy was on the porch door screen.  A very warm day yesterday and today will reach 90F but, fortunately, rain will come in tonight and cool things down tomorrow.  The tree frogs and crickets at night are so loud!  My grandpa taught me how to tell the temperature by counting cricket chirps.   To get a rough estimate of the temperature in degrees Fahrenheit, count the number of chirps in 15 seconds and then add 37. The number you get will be an approximation of the outside temperature.  Isn't nature amazing?!
