Late birthday dinner

I spend the day working. Gáspár and I make some progress on BDD Book #3. Jo and I get Cukenfest almost ready to issue the CfP. So, that’s progress.

I lunch at Breakfast 55, downstairs. They have a “pan” dish, which consists of salad, bread, and cheese on a wooden chopping board along with your choice of hot food in a small metal pan. I opt for egg. It’s a great, and possibly too filling, meal.

Later, there are calls from home. BHC have delivered the insulation without any forewarning. Between Angus, Nick, and Tam we sort it out. It will make it into the veg store.

Angus is customising his Jimny. He’s giving the wing mirror casings a Damascus steel finish using a dip kit that he got last year.

It’s time to go to the station to meet Megan. She’s looking great, despite fifteen hours of plane and train travel without much sleep. We walk back through the city to the flat, where we chill and chat for a couple of hours, drinking herbal tea and deciding where to go for dinner.

The lucky establishment is Gärtnerei on the other side of the city. It’s a short metro ride away, so she buys one of the 9€ passes, which will remain valid until the end of tomorrow.

The restaurant is busy. We get a table outside, under a vine laden with red grapes. It’s a vegetarian menu, offering a tasting/sharing option - which is what we go for. It feels like we get to try most of the starters from the menu. Then there’s a punchy jackfruit burger and a delicate Thai curry for mains. We finish with four desserts - chocolate ice cream, mango ice cream, vegan chocolate brownie and <skips-my-mind>

It has got dark. We’re both tired. Barely a minute after getting to the metro stop, the train arrives. It whisks us back to Rheinischer Platz and we’re home in no time.
