‘A Café with a View (and a Vision)!’

The Boardwalk Beach Club is a café based around a 60s brutalist building on the promenade between Cramond and Silverknowes. It has one of the best views in Edinburgh - overlooking the Drum Sands, Cramond Island, the Firth of Forth and its islands and the Fife coast beyond.

Established in 2016, the name derives from a vision contained in a 2004 proposal by Edinburgh’s design champion, architect Sir Terry Farrell, for a ten-mile “boardwalk” along Edinburgh’s shoreline between Joppa In the East and Cramond in the West.

Unfortunately, budgetary constraints meant that nothing has come of the proposal, but the vision continues to inspire the café’s unique decor and ambience. (Also, see extras.)
