A Celebration

An Arnside friend of ours, a retired professional Botanist, has just had a rather special birthday.
Generously she invited lots of her friends and former colleagues to a party.
This was held at the Windermere Jetty Boat Museum.
The day included an outing in a free launch on the lake and a free lunch in the Museum.
The weather was perfect for the event.

There was a chance to look round the Museum which is well worth a visit, and a talk on conservation.

My Blip shows a steam launch, The Lady Elizabeth, which was built in New York State around 1900. Nobody knows how it got from there to Lake Windermere. At some point it sank but was salvaged in 1955. It is now undergoing further conservation.

My extra shows one of the main display halls in the Museum. Full of interest.

Thanks Lynne. You are full of good ideas and that was one of them
