Hello September

After another at home-pool-with-friends-and-neighbours day, I went to Didim this evening with Graham and Kat to eat at Draft Burger - haven't been there for months. Their veggie burger and chips was very filling so this was a good state to be in for our post dinner trip to the supermarket as shopping on a full stomach is always cheaper,  but I still managed to spend 1,000+ lira.  The inflation in Turkey this year is just crazy - not surprising that the toy shop was totally empty. With an "official" inflation rate of about 80%, although anyone living here will tell you that it is higher,  people are struggling to buy food and pay utilities, and such stores as this toy shop are certainly going to suffer.

"Consumer prices increased by 78.6% last month ..... driven by the soaring cost of food and drink and transportation. Food prices have almost doubled in a year, while the cost of transport was up 123%, according to data from the Turkish Statistical Institute." Jul 4, 2022
