A Day Worth Recording

The (extremely heavy) large cast iron rad has a patch of rust visible from the front.  No evident leak as such, just a suspicion - no smoke without fire, and all that.

While the rad was face down on a pallet it was a chance to strip and clean up the suspicious section from the back.  Looks OK to me though the proof of the pudding will be when it gets reconnected but, at least, it's clean if we need to seal it with something.

We did investigate getting it professionally refurbished.  The cost, of around a grand, was borderline but when they wanted us to carry it out to the car park and put it on a pallet when two weightlifters had been pushed to move it a couple of metres, that definitely wasn't happening.
