Prestbury

We went to a funeral.

My aunt (93, still living alone) sadly had a stroke about a month ago, and died a short while after.  Mind you - it's not a bad way to go, is it?  For her 90th birthday she requested (and received) an accompanied trip to Tuscany.

We weren't particularly close, but she was a lovely, and incredibly active lady.  I'm glad we visited her last year.

When my cousin contacted us to let us know she was ill, and likely to die quite soon, it seemed probable that we would have already gone to Ireland by the time of her funeral.  But in fact we were glad to be able to go to her send off.  It was also nice to get a ride down there with my brother and his wife.

We set off early enough that we could stop in Prestbury for a walk to stretch our legs (where I spotted this rather splendid old building), and then an early lunch, before proceeding to the crematorium for the family committal.  Afterwards, a service of celebration of her life at the church she attended in Winchcombe, and sandwiches and cake in the local community centre.

Then J drove us back to Market Harborough, and we came back to our lodgings.  Quite a long day, I was glad to let J do the driving.

Back to box sorting tomorrow.
