A Day In The Life

Sticks & Stones

MrsP announced over breakfast that she wanted to start a fire and burn the sticks and branches she’d collected over the summer from the yard, thanks to gusty winds. So that’s what we did for a couple of hours this afternoon on the back patio. The only thing missing was a cold brew. Maybe next time :) • It was 48F again this morning but warmed up to the mid-70s this afternoon. While feeding and tending the fire we were entertained by numerous goldfinches, plus a nuthatch, pulling seeds from the sunflowers growing in the back of our veggie garden. No, make that pecking and tugging! They worked hard for every single morsel. Our resident monarch also made an appearance at Joe Pye Weed and on the mystery flower that I have now identified as a plume thistle :) Blackbirds, hummers and squirrels were also in attendance • Looks like we’ll have to wait another day for Artemis I to lift off • Hope y’all are having lovely weekends! Peace & Love to you from Maine
