Hippo Love

As mentioned in yesterday's blip, in the nearby town of Hutto, Texas, the high school sports teams are known rather inelgantly as the Hutto Hippos. With high school football being the near-religion it is in Texas, many - perhaps most - homes and businesses in Hutto have a statue of a hippopotamus in their yards or outside their business. One can buy a concrete hippo at many places in town, including the two big box home improvement stores (that are on either side of a single intersection in this small but growing town) and elsewhere. Many people choose to paint their hippo, many far more creatively than this example.
