Shanty Crew

Our visit to Lyme Regis has coincided with the Lyme Folk Weekend. They were packing up by the time we realised this yesterday, but today we caught a couple of the free acts, including these sea shanty guys. They were very good, though personally I can only take a few shanties before I get bored. Their last one included the line 'we could do with knowing when to stop ...' and luckily they did. One of them pointed out in between songs that Lyme Regis was the closest some of them had ever got to the sea.

It did remind me of the last time we were down this way (2011!) when we popped along to Sidmouth where the folk festival was on. We came across a flash mob, led by The Spooky Men's Chorale. They marched on to the beach singing something like 'let me through, let me through, we've got very important things to do'. I've added an extra I dug out from back then.

In other news we couldn't find anywhere for Sunday lunch as everywhere was fully booked. We had some very nice fish and chips though. We were amused that the family on the next table were playing 'The Alphabet Game' aka as we called it  'Letters Of The Alphabet' which we used to play with the girls to keep them occupied when we were waiting for food to arrive. Their subject today was cakes. They started with Angel Cake and got as far as Gateaux before they gave up.

There has been a bit of light rain today and the sea is pretty rough, but we can't really complain. Yet.
