Willow Emerald

A visit with Pete to one of the under-recorded monads at Deeping St James  produced lots of interesting botanical records - re-finds of previously known species such as Butterbur and new discoveries including a good population of Nationally Scarce Fringed Water-lily.

But one of the most striking observations was the sheer number of Willow Emerald damselflies along the Welland. This species really seems to have increased dramatically over the last couple of years and is now almost ubiquitous wherever willows grown near water.
