Temptation

You can blame the three heat waves for the size of our peaches.  We have already eaten a few and they are delicious!  We are not fond of pies or jams but we do like the fruit as it is, and, as it turns out, so do Son and Rani and Nani and Flynn, so these were plucked especially for them.

Went to work (left again at 06.10 to avoid A27 traffic as all trains were on strike today, arrived at 06.55, and slept in the car till 08.10), worked, went back home, and almost promptly went back to bed.  Woke up in time for dinner, after which AW announced that we were going to Son's place to deliver this yummy fruit.  The children were very active as usual but Son and Rani were both tired.  Heartwarming for AW is that they no longer call him by his nickname, and instead he's now officially 'Grandpa'.  We both love that.  His name is his name, nothing wrong with that, but 'Grandpa' is a recognition of the relationship.  Of course I'm still the Ellaphant, and that is just fine with me.

No Friday evening live bridge because Benna wasn't feeling well and Lavinia is away on holiday again, but that is okay.

I'll be a tour guide to some visiting blippers tomorrow!

Extra -- I need to note down here that QE2 passed away peacefully in her sleep yesterday.  The end of an era.  Personally, I believe there will be not just changes but waves of changes now that new people have taken positions of leadership (or lack of it?).  It will be a good exercise for the history buffs to observe now all these new things that will take place.  Very subtly, perhaps, but there will be repercussions for the future.  It's easy to say this, happens all the time... but these won't be 'ordinary' events.  We shall look through some mirrors, darkly, and discern meanings.  She knew.  And that is why she held on for as long as she could.  When someone has been in power that long, one develops a sixth sense of direction and destiny.  I hope she died in peace.
