Gently down the stream

For Sis

I might have taken this at 6.30am in the Park but actually I didn't.  It was taken around lunchtime in the middle of town!

There is a stream - maybe 1 to 2 metres wide - running along the edge of the Broadway and a string of bus stops.  It's railed off and right next to some pretty unattractive public loos and the Mayor's House.  There are, admittedly, quite a lot of small fish in the water, but still an odd place to see a heron.

Actually, it's not the first time I've seen her there, but this time she noticed how many people were peering at her and didn't like it very much - but then she's only a muddled adolescent.

I'm constantly surprised how distinct and almost alien herons seem.  Incredible looks.  Those eyes seem to almost swivel away at an angle from her head.

Thanks for all your very kind comments yesterday - what special people you are.  Have a great Sunday evening/Monday morning  xx
