A Day In The Life

Winding Down

Today’s overcast skies fit the somber mood as Queen Elizabeth’s hearse made its way through the countryside of Scotland to Edinburgh for the night, along with remembrances of 9/11 in the US. Hard to believe 21 years have passed since that horrific day because emotions are still raw • Here’s a shot of one corner of our veggie garden. It’s looking rather empty because we’re winding down this growing season with many plants already pulled. I also wanted to show the decimated scarlet runner bean towers. Once a lush jungle of green leaves and bean pods, with generous sprinkles of red flowers, until the deer started noticing. And started nibbling. And nibbling. Now it looks like a topiary with a skirt of tangled naked vines underneath. What a sad sight! Our fingers are crossed there isn’t a dear deer named Kareem Abdul-Jabbar due to stop by :) • A Happy and Peaceful Sunday to you all!
