a lifetime burning

Some days I'm lucky with small birds, other days it is birds of prey. There are, of course, days when I'm not lucky at all and can't find anything interesting to photograph.  But today it was waders, and in particular this pair of Black-tailed Godwits.   Its actually quite a tall bird, having long legs, not that you would know from this shot.

There's an extra showing the bird taking flight which gives you a better idea of the length of the Black-tailed Godwit's legs, and the depth of water in the main. Seeing the bird in flight also shows off its rather attractive white wing bars and pied black tail.
